It must have been 10 years since I last went to London with my parents. I remember taking the car and more excitingly the ferryboat, from Ostend to Dover. Nowadays, less than 2 hours of train lands you in the centre of this vibrant capital. I hope the Brussels politicians do that too sometimes, because my travel impressions from London read a bit like a "what Brussels could learn from London" guide.Saturday, 31 March 2012
Travel Impressions of London

Deadmau5 and a phone launch
To launch a new phone these days, billboards aren't doing it anymore. A live performance of Deadmau5 in the center of London however, accompagnied by the most advanced projecting technology, does put your product in front of the masses.
Well played by Nokia, but wether it will establish them between the iphones and Androids has yet to be seen...

Burn productions: Never Extinguish & Human Machines
As an energy drink these days, it seems you just have to produce video content to keep it up. After years of Red Bull's domination in extreme sports video's, competitor Burn is now catching up with some skateboarding and snowboarding video's as well. Mind you, we're talking about beauties like "Human Machines" and "Never Extinguish", so you don't hear us complaining. Good storytelling, although I'll stick to plain Coke's.
Probably more to come on http://www.youtube.com/burn

On Friday the Red Hot Chili Peppers kicked off their European tour in Cologne, Germany. The Lanxess arena was sold out for the presentation of the new album 'I'm with You'. A long awaited gig as the peppers haven't been touring in the past 4 years.

Graffiti wars
Channel 4 made this great programme about the graffiti wars going on between graffiti and street art artists.
found via @michaelvdm
"In London over the past 18 months the tension between the camps has played out in a battle of spray cans between freehand graffiti writer King Robbo and his nemesis, the stencil-using street artist Banksy.
The graffiti war between the two men began in the early 90s but was re-ignited by what was widely seen as an unforgiveable transgression of strict graffiti rules by Banksy.
It was an act that pulled 80s legend King Robbo out of retirement to retaliate in the place where it all began, the streets.
The film goes behind enemy lines as the war escalates, until tragic and unforeseen circumstances bring about an unexpected ceasefire."

Kilian Martin, reinterpreting skateboarding
Kilian Martin, who joined the Powell Peralta team last month, made a(nother) short skate film with director Brett Novak. The well shot slow motion footage and the unique skate style of Kilian make this one really worth watching and hence, sharing.
